After seeing multiple videos of recording sessions I kept noticing that weird speaker thing on the kick drum, enough so that I thought it was worth investigating further.

At first I thought the large speaker cone was going to be able to capture more low end frequencies than your typical AKG D112 of B52, when in reality the size has nothing to do with it.
